After the seventh matchday the German Football-Bundesliga has one or two surprises stored. The 1899 Hoffenheim promoted team is currently on the second place and the reigning champion FC Bayern Munich only on the fifth place. The sextuple German Champion, Hamburger SV, which gained its last title in 1983, currently holds first place with three points advantage over Hoffenheim.
For the high flyer Hoffenheim it is the first season in the first division. The team ascended to the second division just one year ago and now, they want to conquer the first division. It is spectacular that such a small team shows such a velocity. Hoffenheim’s patron Dietmar Hopp said in an interview: “The progress of this team is astonishing. We did not imagine that so young players could develop so quickly.”
On the first matchday Hoffenheim came up against Energie Cottbus, who played for the second time in the German Bundesliga since 2006, but could never go further the 13th position. With a 3:0 victory the promoted team, led the standings together with the FC Schalke 04, who achieved a 3:0 victory as well.
After the second matchday Hoffenheim was able to keep their position after they won over Borussia Mönchengladbach on home soil. But temporarily, because one week later they had to face Bayer Leverkusen, which may not have won any national title, but always have come under the first ten _except for three seasons. With this first defeat Hoffenheim slipped down five positions, where they remained until the fifth matchday.

As the Hamburger SV won over Cottbus on Sunday, they placed Hoffenheim seconds one more time with three points deficit.
As conclusion we can just say: Hats off! It was a successful start in the first division. Coach Ralf Rangnick warned his team despite the great results against too much euphoria, after all there are still 27 games to play.
The most successful team of Germany, the FC Bayern Munich, seems to have forgotten how to win and currently is placed in the eleventh position. With only two victories, three ties, two losses and just two goal differences the team has accumulated so far nine points, seven points behind the top of the league. It was indeed the worst start in the season since 31 years ago. Jürgen Klinsmann has to take a lot of flak from experts and media as well as from his own players. He is especially criticized due to the high amount of rotations, which not only brings insecurities in his own team, but also seems to give the opponent more motivation. Stefan Effenberg, former team captain said: "They have a problem because they appear each game with another team so they cannot built a stable team scaffolding.“
To make an end to all these discussions Klinsmann needs to achieve some victories. Whether rotations, team hierarchy or training and tactics: If Klinsmann wins the next games he did everything right.

The
16th edition of South Africa’s main international cycling stage race,
the Cape Argus Pick ‘n Pay Giro del Capo, begins on March 6th and comes
with some changes to its format. This year’s competition promises to be
the best ever in its history.
One
of the changes is the number of teams to participate, instead of the
usual 22; there will be 29 groups, by far the highest; also the number
of cyclist per team will increase from five to six.
The split between the international and the local teams is almost equal.
Barloworld
team just signed in the professional cyclist Robert Hunter, the fourth
South African member of the team. Hunter is known as well as the rest
of his new partners, as a great cyclist and it’s even considered a
world’s top sprinters.
Hunter
is beneath the eye of the press and the Giro’s fans, but especially of
the Barloworld’s followers. Everybody is expecting something impressive
from him. And what else could be expected after his remarkable 23
victories, proof to his outstanding accomplishments.
His
most notable achievements include having competed in the world’s most
important races with five appearances in the Tour de France; once in
the Giro d’Italia and three times in the Tour of Spain, where he won
two stages and both the points and sprints jerseys. In fact, Hunter
celebrated his new career by winning the first stage of the Tour of
Spain in 1999, rounding off winning the sprinters jersey and coming
second in the points section… A Grand Tour that’s ranked third is not
bad for a rookie!
After
the Tour de France 2006 where Robbie helped his Phonak team-mate Floyd
Landis to that controversial win and the American was caught positive
on his testosterone test, the sponsors pulled out, leaving him and the
rest of his Phonak partners unemployed.
Although
the unfortunate event Hunter was involved in, it didn’t take him to
long to get back on the saddle. Barloworld snapped up the 29-year-old
who is the first, and to date only, South African to have ridden the
Tour de France.
This
Cape Argus race will be his first after more than 10 years, but
according to his manager Tony Harding, “the Giro has come at just the
right time”.
Next
to Hunter will be competing: the Italians Fabrizio Guidi, and Enrico
Degano; the Colombian Felix Cardenas and the Russian Alexandre Efimkin.
Plus, another South African, Ryan Cox, seems that will take the sixth
place in the Barloworld team.
The
Giro del Capo will begin on March 6th, 2007 at the First Stage starting
on the Faure Street Stadium, to end on top of Helshoogte Pass. Second
Stage starts at the Coetzenberg Sports Centre in Stellenbosch and the
proposed finish will be adjacent to the Protea Hotel at Technopark,
Stellenbosch. The Third Stage start and finish lines are still a
surprise.
Stage
4: begins at the Near Camps Bay High School and concludes at the Signal
Hill’s top. And the Final Stage goes from Cape Town’s Hertzog
Boulevard, to Green Point, which is part of the world-famous Cape Argus
Pick ‘n Pay Cycle Tour; this 5th Stage takes part on March 11th, 2007.

Además, promete ser el mejor evento en la historia del Giro del Capo. Uno de sus cambios es el número de equipos que participarán, pues en vez de ser los usuales 22 grupos ahora serán 29. La división entre el número de equipos internacionales y locales es prácticamente 50-50. Además el número de ciclistas por equipo aumentará de cinco a seis. Aquí es donde entra Robert Hunter a quien el equipo de Barloworld acaba de contratar, este ciclista profesional es el cuarto sudafricano del equipo, sin embargo aparte de sus 3 compatriotas, es el único de su nacionalidad que está asegurado para participar en el Giro del Capo junto a sus otros compañeros europeos y americanos. Hunter es reconocido tal como a sus compañeros, como un excelente ciclista, pero además es considerado un excelente esprínter, lo cual lo ha categorizado como uno de los mejores del mundo. Desde su llegada Hunter está en la mira de la prensa y de todos los seguidores del Giro del Capo, pero especialmente de los seguidores de Barloworld; todo el mundo espera verle realizar algo estupendo durante su participación en el Cape Argus. Sus logros más importantes incluyen el haber competido en las carreras más importantes del mundo: con cinco apariciones en el Tour de Francia, una vez en el Giro de Italia y tres veces en la Vuelta a España, en donde ganó dos veces y en ambas victorias consiguió las jersey por puntos y por sprints. De hecho Hunter celebró el inicio de su carrera ganando el primer nivel de la Vuelta a España 1999… ¡El tercer Grand Tour más importante del ciclismo mundial no está nada mal para un novato! Después del Tour de Francia 2006, donde Robbie ayudó a su compañero del equipo Phonak, Floyd Landis, a obtener la controversial victoria de este TDF y de que el resultado del examen de testosterona del americano fue encontrado positivo, los patrocinadores se desentendieron, dejando al sudafricano y al resto del equipo Phonak desempleados. A pesar del desafortunado evento en el que se vio envuelto, Hunter no tardó mucho en volver a montarse en el sillín de la bicicleta. Barloworld contactó sin pensarlo mucho, al ciclista de 29 años, quien es el único sudafricano que ha corrido en el Tour de Francia. Esta carrera de Cape Argus será su primera después de más de 10 años, pero según declaró su manager Tony Harding, “el Giro le llegó en el momento justo” Junto a Robbie competirán en esta carrera: sus compañeros italianos Fabrizio Guidi y Enrico Degano; el colombiano Felix Cardenas y el ruso Alexandre Efimkin. Además, otro sudafricano, Ryan Cox, podría estar tomando el sexto lugar en el grupo de Barloworld a competir en el Giro. El Giro iniciará el 6 de marzo, en la primera fase los competidores arrancarán desde el Estadio Faure Street hasta llegar a la cima del Paso Helshoogte. La ruta del Nivel 2 se desarrollará en Stellenbosch, iniciando en el Centro Deportivo Coetzenberg y finalizando junto al Hotel Protea. La ruta de la Etapa 3 aún se mantiene como una sorpresa para todos, incluso los participantes. En la Fase 4 salen desde el Colegio Near Camps Bay y concluyen en la cima de la Colina Signal. Y la etapa final va desde el Bulevar Hertzog en Cape Town hasta Green Point, que ya es parte del mundialmente famoso Tour Ciclístico Cape Argus Pick ‘n Pay; esta quinta etapa se llevará acabo el día 11 de marzo del 2007.

D’accordo con l’International Cricket Council (ICC), Richie Banaud, il precedente capitano australiano ascolterà al Sudafricano Herschelle Gibbs apellare contro i due Test di che ha stato sospeso. Per Camilla Mancini Durante la partita del passato 14 di Gennaio Herschelle Gibbs ha stato sospeso per due tests, dopo essere dicchiarato colpevolo di fare un’offeso di terzo grado sotto il codice di condotta del’ICC. Mentre il primo Test della partita, qualcuni dei microfoni del Centurion hanno catturato a Gibbs usando vocabolario offensivo e facendo commenti razziale ai tifosi pakistani. A proposito, al finale del giocco Sud Africa ha vinto con sette wickets. Comunque, questo Giovedi Herschelle Gibbs ha presentato un’appello contro il sospeso imposto per il arbitro Chris Broad. A questo il capitano del Proteas Graeme Smith ha dichiarato che Gibbs indubbiamamente giocherà nel secondo Test contro Pakistan. Il giocatore di 32 anni rimanerà disponibile per stare selezionato fino che il rappresentante del’ICC annunci la decizione finale. Si aspettava che la udienza si facerebbe prima la partita nella “Città Amichevole” Porto Elizabeth (PE), ciò nonostante si ha ritardato e non si ha deciso la data esatta.
